The Mayor of Maidstone, Cllr David Naghi, has officially opened the third expansion of The Business Terrace, Maidstone Borough Council’s innovative communal working hub, which is home to some of Kent's most impressive and exciting entrepreneurs and start-up businesses.

Launched in 2015, The Business Terrace provides affordable office space for growing businesses based in the town centre. It has already been home to more than 50 businesses, including three of Kent’s top ‘30 under 30’ young entrepreneurs, and one of the most successful businesses to appear on the hit TV show, Dragon’s Den.

The £565,000 extension has added 3,543 sq ft of additional space, including six new large offices, breakout and meeting areas and a new kitchen to provide growing businesses based at The Business Terrace with the space to scale-up and expand

Cllr Martin Cox, Leader at Maidstone Borough Council, said: "The Council is pleased to be extending the office space available within the Business Terrace for the third time.

“This recent expansion is a testament to the increasing demand for adaptable space, and the Business Terrace is certainly viewed as the place to launch new enterprises in the borough.

“In addition to the one-to-one professional support we offer to new start-ups, we provide flexible and affordable office space. This is a key component of the service and helps to give an opportunity for fledgling businesses to grow and thrive within a conducive environment.

“Since the Business Terrace’s launch in 2015, we have been successful in stimulating entrepreneurship with more than 600 local businesses – a fact that we are certainly very proud of!”
